My learnings from Zen Habits.

I have been reading the tweets from zen_habits regularly. I have learnt the following things which I plan to implement:
  1. If I work less, then, I can focus on creating quality on whatever less time I spend working on.
  2. I need to pull off all distractions while I'm working on that 1 quality assignment / goal.
  3. I don't need to be busy to show others that I am busy.
  4. Its not always necessary to invent some extra ordinary thing. I can just create something which can add value to others.
  5. As Leo writes: It should be about creating something new, giving birth to something of beauty, of inspiration, of joy, of wonder, of laughter, of wisdom.
  6. Leo also mentions about How to do less by having fewer meetings, cutting back on non-essential commitments, cutting back distractions, saying no to requests, Single-task and focus, killing everything which is blocking my focus - like mobiles, internet, etc., setting a limit on how many quality things will I do each day, setting limits on my work hours.
  7. The crux of the teaching is that I should do less, but do it with Utmost Quality and it should make a difference in people's lives.

Power of Cash Purchases.

I recently bought a Samsung LCD TV. With my resolution of not getting
into debts and not using my Credit Cards, this time, I bought it on
Cash. I was amazed at the discounts I was offered just because I was
buying in Cash. I finally got the best deal with a double cash
discount + offer discount + 50 DVDs free with the TV. And the best
part is that I don't have to worry about any EMIs or Credit Card
Outstanding. I've learnt that Cash purchases puts the ball on the
buyers side and helps me get the BEST DEALS.

Notions, Judgements & Opinions.

I've learnt that with more and more bad experiences with banks,
government organizations and utility companies, my patience threshold
has really gone for a toss. To the extent that I am creating false
judgements and opinions about the good experiences also. I recently
happened to receive my Hypothecation letter from HDFC Bank after I pre-
closed my car loan with them. Without reading the entire document, I
made a judgement that the documents are insufficient for me to go
ahead with the car registration procedures. Then, at a later time, I
actually happened to go through the entire document and to my
surprise, everything needed for the registration process was enclosed
with it. So, what I learnt is that I shouldn't make wrong notions,
judgements or opinions about anyone without going deep into the
matter. Can't believe I have become conditioned to bad experiences.
The good ones are just not being visible!

What I've learnt about Money at the GRS Blog.

According to what I've learnt at the GRS blog, following is what I've already implemented:
1) Stopped using Credit Cards totally.
2) Taken a low interest loan and am going to pay off all high interest loans.
3) Am going to buy only what I need or postpone the purchase for 30 days.

I've learnt the following:

The Debt Snowball
Order the debts in terms of low OS balances as priority, not high interest rate loans as priority. This creates a psychological boost to work towards becoming debt free. Because, one after another low balance OS loans start getting repaid quickly, until only the High amount loans are left.

Creating a Spending Plan:
List down all the debts, fixed expenses, project income, windfalls. Then allot the money towards each one of the expenses. Take into consideration any future expenses like marriage, etc. Plan ahead.

Emergency Fund: I need to have an emergency fund in place. It will help me sleep easier at nights. My emergency fund target is Rs. 50,000/- to start with.

Retirement Fund: I should start saving for retirement. I should be able to invest 6 lakhs per year for retirement.

Automatic Personal Finance: Have automatic debits of fixed bills from my a/c, so that I don't miss out on any one of them and have to pay extra late payment charges.

Every Penny Counts: The power of Compounding interest. Check out this video.

WIN NOW

I came across this post on  http://successprofessor.ca/2009/09/07/win-now/
WIN NOW - Stands for: What's Important Now. No Opportunity Wasted.

If I practise WIN NOW daily, I can really WIN NOW. What it means is that I should always be working towards important goals at any given time of the day. Always asking myself WIN - What's important Now? As soon as I am on track to doing things which are important, I should do it in a way that I don't waste any opportunity. So, when I am driving, between batches, meetings, anytime, when I am Free. I should Not Waste Opportunities. This formula really can keep anyone on toes and in the right direction with plenty of growth by way of grabbing every opportunity which can be found.

Exercise & fitness

I've learnt that no matter how dull I am feeling or suffering from
head ache, stomach ache or any such thing, if I attend my exercise
session at the gym or at home, I feel much better and fit. Its like,
exercising takes away all the health related issues and makes me Fresh!

Belongingness.

I've learnt that the fact that I have a sense of belongingness towards
someone, to always know that someone belongs to me and I belong to
someone, fulfills my life's emotional needs. Its exactly the opposite
of loneliness. Its not that I am dependent on someone or someone is
dependent on me. It's pure belongingness that is so important in a
loving relationship. It creates a sense of security, a sense of self-
belief, gives inner strength to make the relationship more better and
more loving.

Reading.

I've never been a good reader. With the help of a special friend, I've
developed the habit of reading since a couple of weeks. I've learnt
that reading a good book gives me tremendous joy and satisfaction, no
matter what mood I am in. I get to learn so much from it, no matter
its fiction or non fiction. Reading is knowledge. Reading is
entertainment. Reading is the best way to pass time. Reading increases
my creativity. Reading excites me. The best thing that has happened to
me since a long time is the interest I've developed in reading.
Reading is an amazing habit and I'm glad I've developed this habit.

Stay Humble.

I've learnt that sometimes I get carried away by my flattered ego. I
should remain humble at all times and have gratitude for whatever I
have. Treat all people with humility.

Effortlessly in love.

I've learnt that the things I can do for someone I love, appear to be
done without any efforts. I am suprised at my own doings, when I go
out of the way to help, care & make special moments. I would never do
such things for anyone else including myself. Deeds done in love are
totally effortless & self motivated.

There's so much to learn..

I've learnt that I know nothing at all compared to the amount of
things I can learn. There's so much to learn & so much to do. Life
seems to look so short.

No!!

I've learnt that No is also an answer.

Self awareness.

I've learnt that self awareness about what I am thinking, what I am
feeling, what I am saying and what I am doing really helps me to take
matured decisions and to stay in charge of my life with minimal
chances of mistakes. I will always remember to remember.

Sharing the feeling.

I've learnt that, by keeping an assumed wrong notion or a negative
thought about someone whom I love, to myself, only adds more negative
feelings and creates a sense of distrust between the two of us.
Sharing about it helps resolve any misconceptions or helps me to
improve my relationship.

Small things count.

i've learnt that the small small things and gestures of caring for
your loved ones matter more than anything else in a relationship. To
love someone unconditionally, to understand what he/she is feeling, to
care for small things, to make someone feel that he/she is very
special, to not take him/her for granted for selfish motives, really
adds up to making a great relationship full of love and mutual respect
for each other.

Love.

I've learnt that people get super powers to do such unbelievable things, such weird things, such difficult things, when they are in Love.
Love is the most powerful of forces. I'm glad that I'm in Love.

Forgiveness.

I've learnt that people can forgive me for wrong actions, but they might not for wrong intentions. Time is the biggest healer and the only way to get someone's trust back.

Coming closer.

I've learnt that when I am facing challenges, my family and near ones come even more closer to me than ever and go out of their way to be a support to me. And because of this, I am able to pass the difficult phase so quickly and effortlessly.

Alert Mind

I've learnt that my employees feel secured, when, they know that, I am alert and I know every smallest detail about our organization. The feel a sense of satisfaction that they are working in a great organization and they feel proud and happy to know that I care for them.

Misunderstandings

I've learnt that, a lot of misunderstandings can be avoided by asking relevant questions at the right time.

When Sleepy...

I've learnt that whenever I am sleepy, I should not enter into a serious conversation with anyone. It may so happen, that, I myself won't realize if I say something wrong or stupid or hurt someone while doing so. And ofcourse, I should never drive when I am sleepy. There's no point in regretting about it later.

Taken for granted.

I've learnt that if I love someone, then, I should never take that person for granted. I would rather, creatively find more and more ways to make the relationship more stronger, more beautiful and more loving.

Right intentions

I've learnt that whenever I do something wrong, I become stressed, my heartbeats increase, I avoid certain situations, all negative emotions surround me.

But, I am on top of the world when I have the right intentions and purity in thought and action. When I do the right things, with the right intentions, I never have to bow down, never have to feel guilty, I fearlessly can face any situation.

Restrictions

I've learnt that restrictions are only in the mind. There's no limit to what I can achieve or do. There are endless possibilities. It all depends on how much can my mind stretch itself and explore the possibilities.

Create your day

I've learnt that I can create my day by actually thinking about the way I want my day to go. And in a similar way, I can apply the same rule and create my life intentionally.

3 steps to goal.

ASK - Make a command. Let the Universe know what you want. Be specific.
BELIEVE - Believe that its already yours. Believe in the unseen.
RECEIVE - Begin to feel wonderful about it. Feel the way you will feel once it arrives. Feel it now.

Cause and Effect

I've learnt that everything happens because of a cause. The happenings are the effect of a cause. The cause is always our thoughts. The feelings which we get are the effect.

So, if I am feeling negative, bad, hurt, I should immediately focus on something good, happy, exciting. So, once I change the thoughts to something positive, the effects become positive, because the cause has changed.

Vision Board

I'm making a vision board. I've learnt that apart from my conscious thoughts, my subconscious thoughts prove to be more powerful. Looking at the vision board would lead me to my goals automatically & subconsciously.

Addiction

I've learnt that if you've come out of an addiction, don't try to test it. Just remain out of it.. Or else it will pull you in again and you won't even realize it.

Love & Peace

I've learnt that what can be done with hatred, can be done with Love too. But, when done with love, I enjoy doing it more. Whatever done peacefully & with love, creates a tremendous sense of satisfaction in me.

Tension doesn't help

Today, I've learnt that no matter how bad a phase of life I'm going through, worrying about it and taking tension will only make things worse.
Instead, when I drop the tension, I can think creatively for solutions, which can help me come out of the situation faster.

Right Thinking. Right Results

Today, I’ve learnt that I should focus only on thoughts which are positive. E.g. If I want to pay someone some money. I should focus on paying him that money on the desired day. I should not think, that I won’t be able to pay.

Whatever thoughts, I am creating in the mind, the universe accepts that picture and makes it happen. - The Secret.

Arguments

I've learnt that its better not to argue in a conversation, where any of the following situation arises:
1) I know that I am wrong.
2) The other person has decided that he is Right and is not ready to listen to anything else.
